Launch of Aurum Advantage Plan Ageas Federal Life Insurance (AFLI) has rolled out the Aurum Advantage Plan, the first multi‑currency life insurance product offered by a life insurer in Gujarat International Finance Tec‑City (GIFT City). The unit‑linked plan allows policyholders to invest in US dollars, euros or pounds while receiving life‑insurance protection.
Key Features The Aurum Advantage Plan is a unit‑linked insurance plan (ULIP) that gives investors exposure to a range of asset classes, including international equities, fixed‑income instruments and gold. Premiums can be paid in any of the three currencies, and the plan offers a partial withdrawal facility without a lock‑in period. Policyholders also receive maturity benefits, loyalty additions and death benefits, all subject to the plan’s terms and conditions.
The minimum investment is set at $3,000, EUR 3,000 or GBP 3,000, making it accessible to a broad spectrum of customers. The product is open to individuals of any nationality, including non‑resident Indians (NRIs), overseas citizens of India (OCIs) and persons of Indian origin (PIOs).
Strategic Significance By launching in GIFT City, AFLI positions itself at India’s first International Financial Services Centre, a hub designed to attract global financial players. The move allows the insurer to serve a growing segment of internationally mobile clients who need flexible, multi‑currency investment options.
Jude Gomes, Managing Director and CEO of AFLI, said the plan meets the rising demand for cross‑currency investment solutions. "Our entry into GIFT City gives us a strong platform to serve customers across international markets," he noted.
Competitive Landscape Several other insurers already offer USD‑denominated policies through GIFT City, such as LIC’s Wealth Builder Plus, Tata AIA Life Insurance, Canara HSBC Life Insurance, IndiaFirst Life Insurance and ICICI Prudential Life Insurance. AFLI’s multi‑currency offering distinguishes it by allowing investment in euros and pounds as well.
Future Outlook AFLI plans to broaden its GIFT City portfolio with term insurance and pension products in the near future. The company aims to leverage its new base to deliver tailored solutions for clients in the Middle East, North America, Europe, the UK, Singapore and Australia.
The launch underscores a broader trend of Indian insurers expanding into international markets and offering diversified, currency‑flexible products to meet the evolving needs of global investors.
