Additionally, nine bodies have been recovered in India. Of the total, only 95 have been identified and handed over to their families.
International Rescue Efforts The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced a specialised international tunnel rescue team from India and China, working alongside the Nepal Army at critical hydropower sites affected by the Bhote Koshi River flash floods. The teams are tasked with high‑risk subterranean operations to locate missing persons and rescue survivors. The collaboration aims to leverage scientific identification methods, preserving DNA samples for future identification.
Government Response and Future Measures Prime Minister Balendra Shah emphasized that bodies found in an unidentifiable condition are being managed in accordance with the law, with assistance from the Nepali Army, Police, and Armed Police Force. The government prioritises saving lives, locating missing persons, and providing urgent relief to affected communities, both Nepali and foreign nationals. Future plans include strengthening hydropower site safety protocols and enhancing early warning systems to mitigate similar disasters.
