The discussion covered research, development, co‑development and co‑production opportunities, positioning India as a key partner for Shield AI’s global ambitions.
Agriculture and Food Chain Engagement In talks with Monish Patolawala of Archer Daniels Midland (ADM), the minister highlighted ADM’s long‑standing commitment to India and its growing farmer partnerships. ADM’s investment in farmer producer organisations and its global technology and AI capabilities in Bengaluru were praised. The dialogue explored using GIFT IFSC for exports, technology and treasury functions, reinforcing India’s role as a global hub for ADM’s operations.
Tourism, Hospitality and Global Hub Opportunities Sitharaman also met Mark S. Hoplamazian of Hyatt and discussed expanding Hyatt’s presence as India’s tourism and hospitality sector enters a new growth phase. She underscored India’s improving connectivity and infrastructure, especially in tier‑II and tier‑III cities, as emerging economic and travel centres. The minister proposed talent development through the National Institute of Hospitality and highlighted GIFT City as a potential financing and treasury hub for Hyatt’s expanding operations.
Strengthening Global Ties The finance minister’s visit concluded with meetings with Luca Zaramella of Mondelez International, who reaffirmed the company’s strong and growing presence in India. Discussions centred on further expanding manufacturing, sourcing, services and export footprints. Across all meetings, Sitharaman emphasised regulatory simplification, digitalisation and better infrastructure as key levers for deepening long‑term investment and making India a preferred destination for global companies.
The six‑day visit to the US, which will include a G‑20 Finance Ministers’ meeting in Asheville and a stop in New York, reflects India’s commitment to strengthening economic ties with the United States and positioning the country as a global business hub.
