S1Z Scooter Launch Fuels Stock Rally Shares of Ola Electric Mobility surged 3.19% on August 28, closing at Rs 38.83 on NSE. The rally followed the launch of the new S1Z scooter range, which introduces an indigenously developed 46‑series LFP Bharat Cell battery. With the battery cost cut through in‑house manufacturing, the company can offer more affordable models while boosting performance.
Technical Highlights and Market Impact The S1Z is available in 3.1 kWh and 5.1 kWh variants, priced at Rs 79,999 and Rs 99,999 ex‑showroom respectively. The 3.1 kWh version promises a claimed range of 179 km, while the 5.1 kWh variant offers an impressive 301 km. Deliveries will start in December 2026 for the smaller battery and March 2027 for the larger one. This 301‑km range is a significant jump from the legacy S1 Z+’s 146‑km range, though its launch price of Rs 79,999 is higher than the Rs 64,999 starting price of the older model.
Broader Strategy and Market Position Ola’s chairman, Bhavish Aggarwal, emphasized the company’s vertical integration: all key components—from cells and motors to software—are built in‑house. This strategy aims to reduce costs and accelerate innovation. The launch comes as Ola’s EV market share climbed to 8.4% in FY27 Q1, up from 5.1% in the preceding quarter, signalling a resurgence in India’s electric two‑wheeler segment. The stock’s 3.5% gain in 2026 contrasts with the 7.5% decline in the Nifty 50, underscoring investor confidence in Ola’s product roadmap.
