Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay on Monday announced schemes aimed at women and families in the state.

The CM announced that families in the state would be getting three free LPG gas cylinders in a year under the 'Annapoorani Super Six' scheme, benefiting 1.3 crore families, adding that the amount will be credited to bank account of beneficiaries.

Speaking in Assembly, the CM also announced free bus travel for women and transgenders in inter-district delux buses across state.

The scheme will be implemented from Pongal (in January).

'No riders like income ceiling or number of trips for women to avail fare-free bus travel,' said TN CM Vijay in Assembly.

The fresh Bonanza comes days after CM Vijay announced enhanced perks for the legislators-- from their upgraded cars to hiked salaries.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay last week announced that MLAs in the state will get a government vehicle and a monthly allowance of Rs one lakh--all for transparent, good governance.

Among a series of announcements made on the floor of the Assembly, Vijay also increased the medical insurance cover to Rs 25 lakh per annum from the current Rs 5 lakh under the Chief Minister's Comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme.

Medical and surgical treatment services for transgender individuals will be additionally provided at seven government medical college hospitals, he said.

He also announced a hike in the procurement price of state-run 'Aavin' milk from Rs 38 to Rs 41 per litre, entailing an additional expenditure of Rs 360 crore per annum benefitting 3.16 lakh milk producers.
