PhysicsWallah’s shares climbed 7.5% on August 17, reaching ₹124.58 per share at 10:02 am. The rise followed the company’s announcement of tighter first‑quarter losses and higher earnings.
The Noida‑based edtech firm reported a consolidated loss of ₹77.5 crore for the quarter ended June, a sharp improvement from the ₹120 crore loss recorded a year earlier. Revenue from operations rose to ₹1,054 crore, up 24% year‑on‑year from ₹847.1 crore.
Total expenses increased 18% to ₹1,247 crore, compared with ₹1,054.2 crore a year ago. In the previous quarter, expenses were ₹1,035.2 crore.
Online K‑12 and early learning segments continued to perform strongly. Enrolments grew 41% YoY to 780,000 from 550,000, while segment revenue surged 88% YoY to ₹105 crore from ₹56 crore.
The NEET exam cycle was delayed this year, causing a temporary shift in enrolment timing and lower NEET enrolments during Q1. The company noted that after the exam results were announced, demand for its Online NEET offerings picked up in July.
PhysicsWallah said that robust enrolment and collection trends in the new academic cycle reflect healthy demand for its products, and the company expects momentum to continue in the coming months.
